Can Changing How You THINK About Stress Make You Healthier?

The answer is yes, and it is your new super power … by Nick WestScreen Shot 2014-03-19 at 9.23.21 PM

Kelly McGonigal is a health psychologist. She’s also the kind of person who LifeHacker interviews simply because she’s so damn interesting. An extremely popular research scientist, Stanford lecturer, and author… who also teaches yoga and zumba on the side for funsies. Clearly, she’s doing something right.

…And that something, most recently, was teaching the audience at this year’s TED conference how we can use our thoughts to literally change our overall health.  She goes into depth on how if we think of stress as a reaction that is helpful to our performance, then it can work for us rather than against us (making us more confident, less anxious, and less stressed out overall), and even cut down on the world’s mortality rates.
