“I need to see you go fucking nuts during this next one,” Sleigh Bells front woman Alexis Krauss demanded of a vigorous crowd Tuesday night at the 9:30 Club. As the familiar ear-piercing chords of “Crown on the Ground” consumed the venue, a sea of arms raised, commemorating the anthem they’ve spent the better part of four years showcasing while on the road.
With the recent release of their third album,Bitter Rivals, tickets didn’t last long for the sold out show. This time around, the duo of Krauss and guitarist Derek Miller welcomed drummer Chris Maggio to their tour. The addition of Maggio to the touring line-up matched Krauss’ relentless energy. That said, Miller’s sharp, overpowering chords were competing with strobe lights show to implode your senses. The crowd received “Bitter Rivals” like fan-favorites “Infinity Guitars” and “Born to Loose.”
In the midst of “Kids,” Krauss produced an impressive earth-shattering screech only to be followed by a beautiful vibrato. After leaving the stage, the band gave fans an encore with Krauss jumping in the crowd to close out the night with Treatshighlight “A/B Machines.”
